KERBSIDE STOP

Brake to slightly above stalling speed. Looking in the left side mirror and slowly steering right crawl until the car is parallel and within 40 cm to the kerb (30 cm in Australian Capital Territory and South Australia).

The only way to bring the car nicely parallel to the kerb is with the help of the left side mirror.

Parking within 40 cm to the kerb is an average requirement in the most states and territories, e.g. it is 40 cm in New South Wales or 45 cm in Queensland, while in Australian Capital Territory and South Australia it is 30 cm (Ref.#2 p.60; Ref.#9 Unit 2: Task 13, p.63).
